Hungary has helped 1,988 Indian students return home from Ukraine in nine aircrafts taking off from Budapest since Saturday, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said.
In the next few days, the Hungarian state will help an additional 3,000 Indians return home, Szijjártó said on Facebook on Thursday. “Foreign ministers from around the world contact me every day asking for help in the evacuation of their citizens from Ukraine,” he said.
The foreign ministers of Somalia, Nigeria, Morocco and Israel have asked for help in recent days and thanked Hungary for the assistance, he added.
The greatest efforts have made for the evacuation of Indians stranded in Ukraine, with some 20,000 people, mostly students, living in the country before the war, he said. The Indian prime minister has sent the country’s minister of petroleum and natural gas as a special commissioner to Budapest to manage the rescue operations, he added.
“Hungary of course helps everyone leave the warzone and reach safety as soon as possible. The Indian minister has expressed high praise for the work of Hungarian state institutions and volunteers,”
he added.

Thanks Hungary, by the way flights have been organised by Indian government
@Ar, of course flights would be organized by India since the flights are going to India. India is also combatting coronavirus. I am not too sure what that point is supposed to be?
Anyways, glad to hear that Hungary and India have been working together to get Indian students from the warzone.
